Happy Children’s Week 2026 from Little Patch ELC!

What a wonderful week celebrating our beautiful little learners! From music, dancing and outdoor adventures to Halloween sensory play, magical potion-making, creative flower crowns and cosy Pyjama and Movie Day, our days were filled with laughter, imagination, discovery and friendship.

Through play and exploration, the children had opportunities to express themselves, develop new skills, build connections and let their curiosity lead the way. It was so special watching their little personalities shine and seeing the joy in their everyday discoveries!

Expressive creations at Little Patch! Our Toddlers explored emotions, creativity and self expression through a beautiful hands on experience using play dough and natural materials. The children created faces and expressions using petals, leaves and sticks experimenting with different materials to represent various emotions. This open ended experience encouraged the children to express their ideas, recognise emotions, make choices and develop their fine motor skills as they carefully placed each element. Space week at Little Patch! 🪐🚀

Our little astronauts have been exploring the wonders of space through some hand on experiences.

The children used loose parts and recycled materials such as aluminium tin, cones, balloons, foil, and sponges to design and build their very own rocket ships and planets. Each creation was unique, giving the children opportunities to experiment, problem solve and let their imaginations take flight.

Some rooms also explored 3D planet making using balloons, paper, and glue. This experience encouraged the children to work together, share ideas and collaborate, as they helped one another create their textured planets. Seeing how everyday materials been transformed into something extraordinary was a fantastic opportunity for our littlies.

Little Patch celebrated Mother’s Day with a wonderful afternoon tea at filled with love, excitement and special moments shared together. In the lead up to the day, we worked very hard behind the scenes to create some meaningful surprises.
Our afternoon was full of fun and connection, with a range of activities for everyone to enjoy, including nail painting, play dough, mini gardening and lots of special moments spent alongside mum or a loved one. A highlight of the day was our kinder children’s beautiful drawings of their mum or special person, proudly displayed for families to take part in a fun “guess the mummy” activity.
It was so special to see the children putting so much love, care and effort into creating their gifts. They were incredibly proud of what they had made, and it was truly heartwarming to watch them create something so thoughtful and meaningful.
We hope everyone who joined us had a wonderful time celebrating together.

🌍 Earth Day at Little Patch 🌍

Little Patch celebrated Earth Day across the week to ensure all the children were involved in the important learning and messaging around Earth Day. Topics included the importance of keeping planet Earth healthy and the 3 R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle).

Much discussion and conversation ensued as the children came up with their own ideas to support the 3 R’s including “using less water”, “turning off lights”, “using both sides of the paper”.

The children also discussed why we have recycling bins and what waste goes into what coloured bin.

Every little bit helps to keep our planet healthy! 🌍♻️

Our learning programs incorporate many events and celebrations that occur throughout the year. Anzac Day is a particularly meaningful event where the children learn the significance of Anzac Day in an age-appropriate manner.
All age groups spent the week developing their knowledge of Anzac Day and the traditions that surround this important day.
The children delighted in making poppies from natural and recycled resources including soil, seeds, sand, paper cups, play dough, tissue paper other textural items.

A week spent combining meaningful moments with play and sensory based learning.
